Apple has released Safari Technology Preview 256, a new version of its experimental browser for testing features planned for future Safari releases. The program was introduced in March 2016 and is intended to gather feedback from developers and users during browser development.

Version 256 includes fixes and updates across a wide range of areas, including accessibility, animations, CSS, editing, forms, HTML, JavaScript, media, networking, rendering, security, Web API, Web Extensions, Web Inspector, WebGL and WebRTC.

The release is compatible with Macs running macOS Tahoe and macOS Golden Gate. Users who have downloaded Safari Technology Preview from Apple’s website can install the update through Software Update in System Settings or System Preferences. Full release notes are available on Apple’s Safari Technology Preview website.

Safari Technology Preview can run alongside the standard Safari browser. Although it is designed for developers, downloading and using it does not require a developer account.
