Some Google Nest Hub and Nest Thermostat users in Canada found their devices showing the wrong time after daylight saving changes, according to reports posted on Reddit this week. Google says it is working to resolve the issue, which affects a small number of devices in provinces where daylight saving time is no longer observed.
The incorrect time has caused more than a display problem. Users reported late alarms, delayed or disrupted automations, and schedules that no longer matched their intended timing. The issue appears to stem from differences in how parts of Canada handle seasonal clock changes: some provinces have stopped observing them, while others have not.
Google previously published guidance for handling the changes on Android phones, but adjusting time zones on Nest devices is less straightforward. The company confirmed to Android Authority that it knows about the problem and is actively working on a fix. It also responded to some affected users to say that a fix is coming.
As of November 4, the fix did not appear to have been rolled out.
