Google-maps/">Google Maps version 26.44.4, available on the App Store, brings fuller support for the iPhone-duo/">iPhone Duo’s inner and outer displays. The app now uses the available screen area instead of leaving a vertical strip unused along the right edge.
The previous version, 26.43.1, was only partially adapted to the foldable device and showed a black border on the right side of both screens. Google’s release notes do not mention specific changes for the Duo, but the updated layout is visible in the app.
On the inner display, the map now spans the screen. The search field appears in the upper-left corner, the Explore, You and Contribute tabs sit in a panel on the left, and map controls are positioned on the right.
Google Maps joins other apps recently updated for Apple’s foldable iPhone. Zoom and Microsoft apps including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote also received Duo optimization earlier this week.
