Huawei may launch the Mate 80 Air next month, according to a tipster on Weibo. The company introduced the Mate 70 Air around a year ago as its entry into the thin-smartphone category, but its successor has yet to appear.

The same tipster says Huawei will not unveil the MatePad Mini 2 alongside the phone. The tablet could also arrive in December, despite earlier rumors suggesting a launch this month, and is expected to run HarmonyOS 7 from day one.

Details about the Mate 80 Air remain unconfirmed. Another tipster recently said an upcoming Mate-series Air model would launch within two months, start with 12GB of RAM and retain its predecessor’s circular camera island. A previous leak also said the new phone would not include 3D face recognition.

The Mate 70 Air measures 6.6mm thick. Some rumors suggest its successor could be thinner, though that has not been confirmed. The Mate 80 Air is also expected to use a Kirin 9030 chipset and feature a curved screen.
