Apple has started testing iOS 27.2.1, according to visits detected in MacRumors logs. These logs have previously indicated upcoming iOS releases, although Apple has not announced a public release date for the update.

The update is expected to be a minor release focused on bug fixes and security patches, including improvements for the iPhone Duo, which launched on October 23. Upcoming iOS versions typically appear in the logs days or weeks before they reach users.

A corresponding macOS 27.2.1 update may also be in development. It could include a fix preventing command-line tools from accepting compromised web certificates issued by eMudhra. Apple has already blocked those certificates in Safari, Mail and applications using its networking and security frameworks since October 19, without requiring a software update.

Apple is also expected to release the first iOS 27.3 developer beta on November 3 in the United States. The company said in a press release published on its Chinese Apple Newsroom website that the beta would arrive on Wednesday, November 4, which corresponds to Tuesday, November 3 in the U.S. because of time zone differences.

iOS 27.3 is scheduled for public release in December, although Apple has not specified a date. In China, the update will enable selected Apple Intelligence features on the iPhone 15 Pro and newer models, including Writing Tools, Genmoji, Clean Up, Notification Summaries, Priority Notifications, Visual Intelligence and Live Translation with AirPods.

Apple said it has partnered with Alibaba to bring support for its Qwen AI assistant to Siri, Writing Tools and Visual Intelligence. However, Siri AI and other Apple Intelligence features announced at WWDC 2026 will not be available in China through iOS 27.3. Image Playground will also be unavailable there.

To use the supported features in China, both the iPhone and Siri language settings must be configured for English and Simplified Chinese. Apple Intelligence will remain unavailable on Macs, iPads and other devices in China until Apple obtains the necessary approvals.
