Apple is testing select Apple Intelligence features in China through the iOS 27.3 beta. Developers in the country can enable the tools after updating to the new software, according to the available report.

Apple Intelligence debuted in the United States with iOS 18.1, but its arrival in China required a partnership with Alibaba and approval from Chinese regulators. Some features, including Siri, Writing Tools and Visual Intelligence, use Alibaba’s Qwen model.

The beta includes live translation in Messages, FaceTime and the Phone app. The feature also works with AirPods 4 with ANC, AirPods Pro 2 and later models. Writing Tools can rewrite, proofread and summarize text, while Qwen integration also enables text generation. Visual Intelligence can identify objects and places, and Clean Up in Photos can remove unwanted elements from images. Users can also create custom emoji with Genmoji.

Other features listed in the beta include natural-language search and memory movie creation in Photos; email summaries, suggested smart replies and priority emails in Mail; notification summaries and urgent notifications; and the Reduce Interruptions Focus mode. Notes can summarize audio recordings, while call transcripts in the Phone app are saved to Notes. Users can also type to Siri, receive more natural responses and have Siri pass requests to Qwen for more detailed answers.

The China version does not include Siri AI, the Siri app or newer Apple Intelligence features introduced in iOS 27. A public beta may follow, giving users in China with compatible devices a chance to try the features. The report expects iOS 27.3 to launch in December.
