OnePlus has reportedly begun preparing the Turbo 7, and an early leak suggests the upcoming phone could represent a substantial upgrade over the Turbo 6. The information comes from a tipster on Weibo, who says the successor may use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 chipset, which is still under development.

According to the leak, OnePlus is aiming to be among the first manufacturers to release a phone powered by the new platform. The chipset has not yet been officially announced, and a previous report suggested it could instead be marketed as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Pro.

The Turbo 7 is also expected to feature a 200MP primary camera and a display capable of reaching a 185Hz refresh rate. System-wide refresh rates could be limited to 165Hz. The phone is said to have a glass body, although it reportedly will not include a periscope telephoto camera.

The leaked device could arrive by the end of the year. Its specifications would mark a notable improvement over the OnePlus Turbo 6, which uses the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, has a 165Hz screen and includes a 50MP main camera.

The reported specifications also resemble those previously associated with a OnePlus Turbo Pro. That device was said to be in development with a 6.78-inch 1.5K display running at 185Hz, a 200MP main camera and a battery capacity of at least 9,000 mAh. It remains possible that both reports refer to the same handset.
