RedMagic’s 12 Pro brings a series of upgrades aimed at gaming performance, including the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset and an active cooling system with a fan and liquid-cooled loops. A transparent rear panel reveals parts of the system, which the company calls AquaCore Cooling System 3.0.
The battery capacity rises to 8,400 mAh, compared with 7,500 mAh in the RedMagic 11S Pro. The display keeps its 6.85-inch size but increases its refresh rate to 185Hz. It uses BOE’s X11 OLED panel, which RedMagic says is more efficient thanks to new emissive material, and retains the uninterrupted full-screen design with thin, symmetrical bezels.
The selfie camera remains beneath the display. RedMagic says AI algorithms are being used to reduce glare and haze, issues associated with this type of camera. The phone also adds IP68 and IP69 certifications, while the manufacturer specifies an IPX8 rating for the cooling fan.
The 12 Pro runs Redmagic OS 12, based on Android 17, and adds improvements to cross-platform and cross-device connectivity. Its features include access to Steam games through the X-Gravity platform.
The standard retail package includes user manuals, a USB-C-to-USB-C cable and a protective case, but no wall charger. The review notes that this is the first European RedMagic box it has received without one.
