Samsung’s Android XR Intelligent Eyewear could finally arrive in the United States and South Korea in mid-December, according to a report from ChoSun Biz. The launch would bring Samsung’s first smart glasses to market before Christmas, but the company has not yet announced an official price.
Samsung previously described the glasses as offering “a reasonable price” for a product in the premium range. That wording suggests they may cost more than Meta’s latest smart glasses, which start at $299. Meta’s Oakley Meta Vanguard, its most premium model, sells for $499.
The upcoming Samsung models are expected to include front-facing cameras. The company could potentially introduce camera-free versions in the future, although no such model has been confirmed for this launch.
Samsung is positioning the glasses as a companion to smartphones rather than as a replacement for them. The company says Intelligent Eyewear will extend the smartphone-centered experience, in a similar way to how smartwatches complement phones.
The glasses will run Android XR and include Google’s Gemini assistant. That combination is intended to provide close integration with Android smartphones, following an approach already seen in Wear OS smartwatches. Unlike Meta, which has presented its wearable devices as part of a post-smartphone future, Samsung is emphasizing their role alongside existing phones.
