Xiaomi may be preparing to enter the growing market for wide-screen candybar smartphones. According to tipster Digital Chat Station, an Android phone maker is testing a device in this format; although the post did not name the company, its emoji hints that it could be Xiaomi.
The rumored phone is said to have a 16:10 or 16:9 aspect ratio, similar to Huawei’s Pura X View, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. No further specifications were provided.
Other manufacturers are also reportedly exploring wide-screen phones. Oppo is rumored to be developing a Reno-series model, while Doogee and Coolpad have also joined the category. Huawei, meanwhile, is said to be working on a more affordable device under its Osta sub-brand.
