Apple has released a new beta firmware update for the AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Pro 3, AirPods 4, AirPods 5 and AirPods Max 2. The update carries build number 9B5045a and is rolling out to developers and public beta testers.

Apple has not provided release notes for the AirPods beta, so its changes are unknown. To enable beta updates, users can connect their AirPods to an iPhone, iPad or Mac running iOS 26, iPadOS 26 or macOS 26 or later, then turn on the beta firmware option in the AirPods settings.

After beta updates are enabled, the AirPods can download the firmware when connected to an Apple device and plugged into power. Installation may take a few hours; unlike updates for other Apple devices, AirPods do not have a manual software update option.
