Anyone unable to attend their assigned polling station on November 29 can vote by post through Correos. The application can be completed online from a computer or mobile device, provided the applicant has access to a digital certificate or electronic DNI and has Autofirma installed.

To begin, visit the Correos website and select “Solicitar voto” (“Request a vote”). After accepting the data-protection policy, the applicant must review their personal information, complete any missing details and provide the address where the electoral documents should be delivered. This address does not have to match the one listed in the electoral register.

The system then generates a document that must be signed electronically using Autofirma. Once the application is submitted, Correos displays a confirmation that it has been registered. Applicants can download a certificate proving that the request was filed and check its status online. However, registering the application does not mean it has already been approved.

The Electoral Census Office will review the request and, if approved, send the necessary documentation from the relevant provincial office to the delivery address provided. Once postal voting has been approved, the voter cannot vote in person at a polling station, so the application should only be submitted when postal voting is definitely the preferred option.

Applications can be submitted until November 19, 2026. Completed ballots must be deposited at a Correos office by November 25, during its usual opening hours. It is advisable not to wait until the final day, since the application must first be approved and the electoral documentation then has to be delivered.

Correos states that the Electoral Census Office asks the voter to submit the ballot personally. If the voter cannot do so, another person may be authorized, but that representative must provide an authorization, a photocopy of the voter’s official identification document and their own official identification document.
