macOS 27.3 Adds Live Activities to the Menu Bar on More Macs

Apple’s first macOS 27.3 developer beta adds Live Activities to the menu bar for several built-in Mac apps, including Apple Music, Clock and Voice Memos. The update also supports activities such as screen recording, and is expected to arrive in December.

The feature brings Live Activities to Apple Silicon Macs that do not have the Dynamic Island. Apple’s new MacBook Pro models with touch-enabled OLED displays include the Dynamic Island, which supports Live Activities. Other Macs can instead view updates in the menu bar.

Third-party Mac apps can now implement Live Activities as well. Apple says users can see timely updates at a glance and interact with them, such as accepting an AirDrop request or pausing a song.

macOS 26 and later already supported Live Activities mirrored from an iPhone.
