The Redmagic 12 Pro is the first Snapdragon-based Android phone reported to support the Linux Terminal feature introduced with Android 16. Compatibility was confirmed by enabling the app on the phone and running commands to check that it worked.
Google introduced Terminal as a power-user feature on Pixel phones, and Samsung later added support for Exynos-powered Galaxy S26 models with One UI 8.5. Snapdragon phones had not previously appeared on the compatibility list. Qualcomm has been asked whether support extends to other Snapdragon devices; no response was included in the report.
The Redmagic implementation differs from Samsung’s in some settings. Available disk space is fixed at 132GB, while users can change how much memory Terminal may use. It has 1GB by default, with an option to raise that to 10.6GB. Users can also adjust the display resolution and enable Keep Awake in advanced settings.
The phone supports Terminal’s graphical interface, which could allow programs such as GIMP to run once installed. However, attempts to install the program using the standard command encountered 404 errors.
The Redmagic 12 Pro is scheduled to go up for preorder on November 12, with launch offers available before November 17.
